My 'Ard Boyz Army

By Chambers

I got paroled, the wife is allowing me to be gone all day Saturday so that I can participate in a local 'Ard Boyz event down here in St. Louis.

My List is basically a collection of my 4th ed Chaos range, with the "new" Nurgle DP thrown in to pair up with Squeaky Bobo.

Okay you caught me that isn't actually a pic of my army rather one of SandWyrms that I stole from a few pages back...:)
The reason being when the fifth edition codex came out I was distraught at loosing my Death Guard list; so being a rational person I threw the lot into paint stripper in the intention of repainting the whole lot as a black legion force. That would show GW....
Now guess what never happened? So I will be showing up to the 'Ard Boyz first round with only ~20 painted models out of 59 total models in my list, which doesn't make a very interesting picture.

So anyway with out further weaseling here is my list:

Not too complicated of a list, which is a good thing as I am getting the early morning feeding tomorrow. While the CSM list might have lost all of it's flavor I still believe that it has the best troops out of any codex, which is why I spam the troops and go light on the rest of the slots.

The basic idea is to rush everything forward and get stuck-in. The P-Icons are there to add flexibility with the oblits and the two DPs. I also realize that there are sub-optimal choices in this list such as the two dreadnoughts and giving the princes rot instead of warp time, but I am of the belief you play what you like and the rest will sort itself out.

  1. You see 1 CSM list you really see 'em all. Must close with mech with the only real ranged power coming from Oblits. I really wish they had a fun Codex, I love Chaos.

Let us know how it works out.

  2. I would've figured "The artist formally known as Prince" to be a more Slaaneshi champion than that of Nurgle... what with the girly symbol and all. Kudos to you for fielding something other than a purely cookie cutter list though.

Best o' luck in your games!

  3. @ Warhammer 39999

Needed a name for the second Prince and while I can use Slaanesh with Khorne, I am still a bit stuck on the 4th-ed mind set and I will not run units of opposing gods unless I am also running an un-decided lord.

    @ Chumbalaya

True there isn't much original in this list, and I agree that they are forced into a mold as well. Honestly I am okay with this as I like that CSM are different than "flavor of the month" marines even if it is they are worse for it.
I still weep at night at the loss of my foot slogging Nurgel list, sure I could re-build it but I already have an auto lose army why would I want two?

  4. Ah, I remember the good old days of fighting a bazillion plague marines plus Squeaky Bobo fondly (mostly with Doc Oc). I do wonder about the dreadnoughts harming your rhinos with fire frenzy though, could be interesting with two of them to roll for. Overall, great rhino wall list for keeping the already very resilient troops hidden or in cover. I approve!

  5. Thanks, after all I did learn that you could actually get in rhinos from you :)

The dreads go crazy all of the time, I will post the tournament report soon, but it took until the second turn of the second game for both of my dreads to remain under my control. Since my first game went to round five that was seven crazy rolls before a moment of lucidity. Many time both of the dreads were trying to out crazy each other.

I feel that the dreads should be put up on the front line or just behind it and let them do what they want. It seems the more they go crazy the less people target them irrespective of the damage that they are putting forth.
