Tyranid spore pod model

By TheGraveMind
So people at the Indy Open asked me where I got my pod from for my tyranids. I got them (ya I have more than one) from Mr. Dandy/Wargamma. He makes tons of nice little resin things. I've gotten a few of my terrain/display board bits from him as well. I think the Indy Open even gave away some of his stuff as prizes.

Now GW Has A PSC-Like Plastics Competitor Too

by SandWyrm

For a couple of years now, Battlefront's nice, high margins on their resin tanks/infantry have been massively undercut by the Plastic Soldier Company. Which is just 2 guys who digitally sculpt on a computer, and pump out cheap high-quality plastic kits that cost 3/5ths of what BF charges.

Well, now GW has a PSC-like competitor to worry about too. Dreamforge games is now selling plastic guard minis at 2/3rds what GW charges, and about twice the visual appeal. As their kickstarter project comes to fruition. Expect more models going forward.

Painting help needed (cockpits)

By TheGravemind

After the IndyOpen, I took a step back from gaming, and have been working on painting. Seeing all of those well painted armies really inspired me to get more stuff done. Yes, I have that post pending as well. And here is where I came to a problem. Working on getting some fliers of my own done, I'm trying to figure out how to paint the cockpit.

Kickstarter Launch Detected

by SandWyrm

You might remember me mentioning Sandboxr in my last post on 3D printing. Well, they've launched their Kickstarter. So there's a lot of new stuff to see. Including the future of custom gaming miniatures. Select an animation, scroll to the pose you want, add some weapons and... GW dies.

How To Felt A Game Board

by SandWyrm

I've been wanting a felted game board ever since NOVA 2011, when I saw the really nice ones that Mike and his crew put together. Fast forward to the Indy Open last weekend, where I saw a nice mottled-brown felt on one of the tables that struck my desert-loving fancy. After finding out where Spag got it (Jo-Ann Fabrics), I set about making my own felted table today.

It occurred to me though, that many folks might not know how to properly stretch felt over a table. So here ya go! This is something that I learned stretching canvases the first week of art school. :)
