Promises Promises...

by SandWyrm

I'd rant about this, but let's be honest. The surprise isn't in GW breaking this promise, it's that it took them so long to break it.

GW needs sales, and this (very good) game is the lowest of low hanging fruit. The design, plastic molds and card-cutting dies are already paid for. So all they had to do was print up a page or two of new rules and some 'exclusive' room tiles to be able to call it something "new" (and bait the compulsive collectors).

Cash grabs don't get much easier than that.

Kudos to @Luke_Retallack for the pic!

  1. There's a saying in french which says promises only engage those who trust them...

  2. Considering the cost of the molds for plastic production...there is really no reason we won't see every limited edition product re-released. The new grukk model, krom, space marine terminator captain, limited edition captains...etc. They'll all show back up later.

    1. like DeadFleet did?

honestly, I do expect Space Hulk to move faster than Dreadfleet. I also bet a lot of guys bought it the LAST TIME GW put it out.

  4. I think they broke this statement 5 years ago when they magically found more copies in their warehouse after it had been sold out. I personally do not care about the limited edition nature so GW can re release it to their hearts content. What I would like is the extra cardstock sheet and all the rules and missions from the expansion bundled up into a physical product that I could evaluate purchasing.

    1. You don't really get the purpose of a cash grab, do ya? It's not to save you money by giving you only the 5% that's new in the box. :P

    2. I understand it, that is why I am surprised they did such a poor attempt at it. They can expect to sell through a large chunk of this printing without even trying to sell it to people who have the 2009 version. Throwing the ipad expansions and two cardstock sheets into shrink wrap and they could collect like 40-50 bucks from people who would not spend 125 bucks for the set again or 16 dollars for one of the expansions. So instead they get 0 dollars from me.

    3. They might do that someday, but only after they've milked the guys who are willing to re-buy the entire set.

  5. I already ordered my second copy. This one I won't be opening for a few year....I'll probably sell it for some money in the future.
