Will Digital Publishing Destroy The Local Game Store?

by SandWyrm

As Privateer Press gears up to release War Room for the iPad this April, with it's integrated rules and army builder; should we be scared of it's effect on the profit margins of the local game store? Digital 3D printing is an obvious future threat (or opportunity) to anyone selling model kits, but are gaming books actually more important to their bottom line?

Is GW Walking Away From Us?

by SandWyrm

The news is starting to hit that GW is canceling it's Throne of Skulls event and tournament circuit after this year. The more disturbing question, so far unanswered, is whether they're going to cancel all prize support for tournaments. Even local ones.

What Do I Consider Cheating In 40K?

by SandWyrm

I was asked in a comment to my 'Ard Boyz article to describe just what I consider to be cheating in 40K.

Look And See: What GW Could Be

Let's talk websites. Specifically, what Battlefront does with theirs vs. the fail that is the Games Workshop website.

My Clan Has Herpes... And Other Players Too

by SandWyrm

After posting my story about the awesomeness of my upgraded E-75, I got invited to join a World of Tanks clan. The 'Oddballs'. That sounded appropriate enough. Having never played in a competitive clan environment before, the experience was a bit of an eye opener.

WOT: YEEEEEEAAAAH BABY!!!

by SandWyrm

I finally got my E-75 upgraded to the 128mm gun tonight in World Of Tanks. Last game I killed 6 tanks, wounded 5 more, and took home 80K in silver! Life is sweet when anything less than a Maus runs away from you. :)

Ard Boyz Is Dead!!! Long Live NOVA!!!

by SandWyrm

It looks like we can blame GW cost-cutting and the departure of some long time North American executives for the move, which I think is positive for the hobby in every way. Having gone to the semi-finals twice, I can attest that it epitomized the type of event that hurts the image of competitive play in the eyes of the general 40K player base. It was the only tournament I've ever been to where I've been routinely cheated and bullied. Both by the players, and in one case, the store we played in.

Re-Post: Sun Tsu And The Art Of Stupid

by SandWyrm

(sigh...) I suppose the 11-month reprieve in Sun Tsu quoting 'tactics' articles out in the blog-o-sphere was too good to last. With the general downturn in 40K morale/interest pre-6th, the stupid is starting to surface again. This time in the form of an article on Fantasy. Next we'll start seeing meaningless lateral-thinking articles. Oh wait, that's happened too.

One Forty Five... What?

The weather's been NIIIIIIIIIIIICE the last couple of days, so I thought I'd have a go at making some Flames of War scaled hills out in the garage while the kids ran around in the sun.

Product Review: Chapterhouse Turrets

By TheGraveMind

I had purchased 3 sets of the turrets from chapterhouse to use on my razorbacks for the Indy GT. I decided to buy the Storm Raven turret set because it had the weapon options I needed, but was a few bucks cheaper.

Building A Herman Göring Panzerkompanie

by SandWyrm

Stelek's been making 2000-point Late War American 3rd Infantry Division lists from the 'Dogs And Devils' book lately. So it's only fair that I see what I can come up with to defeat his 'undefeatable' defensive infantry formations. To do that, I'm going to need a German tank list to work from.

Five Dollar Air Support

by SandWyrm

I've been wanting to try out the new improved Aircraft rules in Flames of War, but I've not had any aircraft to do it with. The new 3rd Edition rules only require one plane model to represent all the planes in a flight (1-3 depending on the roll), but Battlefront is still selling their planes in boxes of 3 for $40-50. Ouch!!!

So I decided to head over to the local Hobbytown USA and check out some other options.

The Indy Open: and here we go!

Well Gang! The day is here. The tank is clean! The Sun is shining!
