I spent much of my time at Gencon this year testing my own game, but I did get some nice pictures of the costumes, products, and other cool things that crossed my path as I ran to and fro.

First Look At My New Anvil Industries & Ramshackle Minis

In a very unfavorable comparison to the US Postal Service, the Royal Mail managed to deliver my large Anvil Industries miniature order (581 grams) in just one week for £6. While I've recently paid 5 times that to ship about one ounce of 3D printed minis to Belgium, only to have them lost in transit.

But hey, I've got a bunch of new minis that we have permission to use photographs of in our game! So let's take a look at what Anvil, and another company called Ramshackle Games have sent me.

Preliminary WarStrike Test Units

Here's the Fallen/Republic units that I've worked up for testing. There's no points value for balancing yet, and you can pretty much just pick what you want (and even double up if you wish). For our demo game on Saturday each side took 5 units including their officers (those entries have rank insignias in the upper-right).

New Quick Reference Guide

It's been a month of craziness, what with Cub Scout camps, a family wedding, and my 3rd Sinus surgery just this past week. But I did get to meet (thanks to Farmpunk) a cool guy named Stephen McCormick who's just moved to Indy, and who's already started a miniature game company with some of his friends from various parts of Indiana and Illinois.

How To Felt A Game Board

I've been wanting a felted game board ever since NOVA 2011, when I saw the really nice ones that Mike and his crew put together. Fast forward to the Indy Open last weekend, where I saw a nice mottled-brown felt on one of the tables that struck my desert-loving fancy. After finding out where Spag got it (Jo-Ann Fabrics), I set about making my own felted table today.

It occurred to me though, that many folks might not know how to properly stretch felt over a table. So here ya go! This is something that I learned stretching canvases the first week of art school. :)
