In Defense of Full-Mech
by SandWyrm
In his recent post on BoLS, JWolf listed the 10 reasons he sees for "The Decline Of The Mechanized Revolution". According to him, the balance has shifted to partially mechanized forces over fully mechanized ones. In some sort of constantly evolving rock-paper-scissors version of 40K.
Which is a load of fertilizer if you ask me. (more...)

The North Store Is Dead. Long Live The North Store!
by SandWyrm
In case you haven't heard, the Game Preserve in the Fashion Mall has closed. The store will re-open across the street from the Fashion Mall's east entrance, a few doors down from Kohls. Next to the big Ulta cosmetics store. (more...)

Why Snipers Aren't Competitive
by SandWyrm
Snipers are all sorts of cool in movies, there's no denying that. "Enemy At The Gates", despite it's flaws, is one of my favorite war films, after all. But that coolness just doesn't translate into competitiveness in 40K, where they're just not that useful.
New players will often add snipers eagerly to lists, thinking they must be great. While Vets avoid them like the plague. "Why?" you ask. Well, I'll tell you. (more...)

You Always Remember Your First Time...
by SandWyrm
I had a freelance job that kept me traveling this last week, so I went down to the South Store last Sunday instead going to BMG on Tuesday. It was there that it finally happened. I got my first game versus the Daemons of Chaos codex. (more...)

Reader Question: What Airbrush/Compressor?
by SandWyrm
Chris Writes:
Hello,
I was just reading your blog about painting the Tallan tanks and was just wondering what type of spray gun and compressor you use as I was looking into getting one and was just curious if you could give me any hints or tips on getting a good one. (more...)

The 4 Things Every 40K Army Needs To Have
by SandWyrm
Sometimes, you look at the army the other guy is putting on the table, and you just go "What the...?" That happened to my twice this week. So I thought I'd go over some of the things that every army needs to have in order to be effective. (more...)

killing them softly
by: farmpunk
So our Escalation league went to 1000pts, and I got 2 games in. My conundrum comes with pulling punches vs. nuking people off the table.
I had sat down and come up with a balanced list, designed to take on a variety of opponents. (More...)

Army List: Adapting To The New Bugs
by SandWyrm
I've been thinking a lot lately about the current trends in 40K and what sorts of nasty things the new Nid codex is about to unleash on us. I've been playing a lot of Orks lately, and have noticed some disturbing truths that will only get worse next week. (more...)

Some Proxies Are Just Too Cool
by SandWyrm
Farmpunk and I went down to BMG last night for the escalation league. One of the new Ork players didn't let his lack of funds keep him from bringing a Battlewagon along
Enjoy! We sure did. :)

What Are The Odds?
by SandWyrm
Long-time readers will remember my waffling on whether to equip my Sentinels with autocannons or lascannons. To find out, I did a series of dice rolls to simulate 20 attacks and then used those to come up with my average chances of stopping or destroying a particular target. But I was never quite sure of my results. So... (more)
