A small hobby update today. I've been working feverishly on terrain for the tournament this weekend, and had to take a break last night. I got this guy finished. I've got to say, I had a great time painting this scheme. It was very challenging, but I think he turned out pretty well. I had to go back and re-touch the areas where the red and yellow meet at least a dozen times throughout the process. The base is from Secret Weapon Miniatures. Any questions or comments are welcome.

Looks great, all the extra effort really shows as the quartering of the colors is spot on. Very well done. Do you plan on doing anything for the Chapter Badge?
ReplyDeleteOh snap, that's awesome.
ReplyDeleteVery Nice!
ReplyDeleteLooking cool man!
ReplyDeleteYou've done such a good job, that you've got even a noob like ME thinking I should try to pull something like this off. Well done, great looking figure.
ReplyDelete@PapaJJ: The chapter badge was left off due to time constraints, and will be added later.
ReplyDelete@Mr.Esty: The colors weren't as difficult as I would have thought. One of the main things that helped with the yellow was yellow ink. I was fortunate enough to have bought a bunch of the old GW inks from my local store when they switched to the new washes, but you can find a similar ink from other companies.
I had such a great time painting this guy that I stopped taking pics about halfway through the process. I'll start over with a new model for a tutorial.
I love the shading and smudging on the feet. Excellent details like that make a piece!
ReplyDeleteAwesome job ! need a bit more shading on the yellow armor though
