Aaron Aleong, Brad Townsend, Nick Nanavati, and Andrew Gonyo (From left to right) Team They Shall Know Fear |
Below is the score card for the top 10 teams or so. We were only 16 points above the 2nd place team the Sons of Shattner. It was a forgone conclusion from the judges that before our final battle it would be nearly impossible for anyone except Sons of Shattner to win. Sons were 1st seed and we were 4th with only 301 points going into the last round. They had 338 points going into the last round. Unfortunately for them we had a great match up against them and they only ended up with 6 points in both games to our 59 points.
This year was closer than last year but we pulled it out in the last game against the top seeded team Sons of Shatner. |
As for the lists we used I will give the basic of what we had:
List 1: Brad (Team Captain)
Coteaz
3 plasma servitors, 5 henchmen
4 henchmen, 3 crusaders, 5 deathcults
Land Raider Crusader with psybolts
10 Strikes with psybolts and 1 hammer
1 dreadknight with heavy incinerator
List 2: Andrew
Lord Commissar
40 Platoon Blob with sniper
40 Platoon Blob with Commissar and sniper
Platoon command squad
Platoon command squad
2 Vendettas
3 x Thud guns
List 3: Nick
Inquisitor with Psyker
20 strikes with psybolt and 1 hammer
3 plasma servitors. 5 henchmen
Storm Raven
1 dreadknight with heavy incinerator
List 4: Aaron (Me)
Inquisitor with Psyker
20 Strikes with psybolt and 1 hammer
3 plasm serviotrs, 5 henchmen
Storm Raven
1 dreadknight with heavy incinerator
These lists worked great together but we had problem with a mirror match up in round 3 and necrons on round 4 where we made a mistake on our blob match up. Besides that we had great games with great opponents and look forward to trying for a 2nd time to defend the title of the biggest 40k tournament in the world:
2014 Adepticon Team Tournament
Congratulations again. Any chance we can see some pictures of your army? I had a chance to see the Vendetta's that were awesome.
ReplyDeleteI'll get Andrew to send me some pictures.
ReplyDeleteWell done gentlemen.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations. Some stuff seemed to go your way but it takes a lot of skill to take the whole tournament twice in a row! Well played guys!
ReplyDeleteThe games definitely ebb and flow. Without a killer game in the last round it would have been different. Thanks korona.
DeleteCongrats Spag. This was my first year doing the team tournament (I filled in for a club mate of ours that had to drop out at the last minute). What an awesome event - to win two years in a row is impressive. Are you joining your team captain out here in the Bugeater GT in June? We'd love to have you man.
ReplyDeletenicely done gentleman.
ReplyDeleteStill deciding. I would love to but my work schedule might limit that ability. A true team effort. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteCongrats, gents.
ReplyDeleteThud Guns? Was Andy using Forge World rules? I've never been to an Adepticon or similar event, so I don't know what they allow.
Yes fw thud guns. Thanks myles. They allow some Fw stuff. There were all kinds of neat Fw models. The thud guns
ReplyDeleteVery cool, definitely looking forward to pictures of the armies.

ReplyDeleteHey Jordan! Yep, I was using thudd guns (now named quad launchers). Adepticon allows some forgeworld (basically 40k approved stuff, but they have their own list) at the Team Event, no FW for the singles GT, and almost all FW for the Gladiator event (I think max is 3 or 5 SP vehicles).
ReplyDeleteQuad launchers were very, very good...
What's shaking, Andy? Good to see you're still taking people's lunch money in the competitive scene. That's good stuff, these events seem like a lot of fun. Reading all the bloggers' post-Adepticon has been pretty interesting.
DeleteWe will get some pics up soon.
ReplyDeleteRockin' it man! Wish I could have been on my friends' team - would have been fun to play against you guys. My friends you played in round 4 are happy with their distinction of being one of the only team to really give you guys a hard time :-p
ReplyDeleteAre you actually thinking of going to the Bugeater? I recommend it man - been there both years it's been run, and though it isn't a 'big' event, it's well run and very laid back. If so, see you in a month!
