The 1998 American Godzilla, while not being the best movie, caught a lot of flakk because it deviated away from the old godzilla a lot and people wanted the man in a suit nostalgia a bit I feel. Then there was Godzilla 2000, which went back to the classics a lot more, and still was only just ok. This looks like an interesting modernization of Godzilla, but it will really depend on the overall feel that it gives off, for the majority of godzilla fans.
ReplyDeleteI don't think the 1998 reboot failed because it wasn't a man in a suit. It failed because of a horrible story and characters. Instead of being an unstoppable force of nature, Godzilla became just a big (momma) lizard that died. Like he was a reject from Jurassic Park or something.
ReplyDeleteThe whole point of Godzilla is that he can't be stopped. Not by tanks, A-bombs, other creatures... nothing. If he saves Tokyo, it's only because some other monster was invading his turf. If you naturalize him, he loses what makes him shine.
Has this become a personal blog devoid of gaming connection?
ReplyDeleteNope.
DeleteThere are still 4 other authors here, and I'm working on the next X-Wing article right now.
