Where's All The NOVA Talk?

by SandWyrm

Ok, I have to ask... What's with the deafening silence about NOVA this week from the competitive community? I can understand the promised update feed glitching out during the event itself. But where's the commentary and the stories? Where's the impressions of 6th Edition and it's first major competitive tourney? Was it good? Bad? Mixed? Who won the invitational? How many games did Stelek actually lose? What are the greater meta implications of the armies that showed up?

So far all I've heard is that Tony won the GT, Alex won RenMan, and a couple of places have posted their lists. That and the ridiculous troll attempt by BoLS over a minor ruling that favored Tony.

Other than that... nothing. Come on guys! Talk!

  1. NOVA isnt going to establish meta . Their format screwed armies with vehicles. Tony is a great player that brought an army perfect for that format... most players didnt. Most tournies wont be so lopsided on rules and missions.

  2. I was curious myself, but figured everyone was jet lagged or the like... Sounded like fun though...

  3. The tournament was awesome. MSU-bore-you-to-death-and-win armies did not have the huge advantage of last edition so it was a lot of fun. I had leman russ that actually did very well for me. My Grey Knight TErminators (non-competetive I hear) did quite well too.

I got to see tony play a little. That is what a true Champion looks like. Nick looked pretty awesomeon too, trying to kick tonys butt. I Think blackmoor did well and I got to play one of your frineds, Dustin Clare (I think that is his last name).

He was awesome and quite fun to play! Stelek did not make it into the finals.....I saw him playing a casaul game during the finals when I was walking around bored.

    Cheers!

  4. This was my first year and i had a great time, and every single person I played was so cool. Everything was put together so well, and everyone seemed to be in a great mood. Glad people like Mike B. put this stuff together.

I went with my DE/Eldar and had some pretty good results. I went 4-2 during the GT,got the 5th round but couldn't bring it home on the 6th(darn necrons). Then I got 2 of the 3 games in the trios. Pretty much it was a close but no cigar deal the whole open. I got 24th which isnt anything great, but i think it cool for a first timer.

    2. Darn you and your Dark Eldar Dustin! On a competetive note, that started off the tourney so bad getting beat that badly lol. Thanks for the game and thanks for being nice during the tourney.

Congratulations on being a famous person now, now that you have beaten stelek in the tourney!

  5. Speaking of ridiculous troll attempts, Blood of Kittens is competing for the top prize!

    1. Now that's a hit piece!

I like how he just makes crap up that supposedly happened last year, but that I know for a fact didn't, because I was there. Dash was too drunk to accept his 'random' sportsmanship prize? Funny, I watched him walk up there soberly to accept it. And I saw his winning sportsmanship score in the GT spreadsheet. Which was a different event from the invitational, where he did have a few too many and left early. He cleaned up his act the next day and nobody could find fault with his GT behavior.

A forum had to be 'completely cleared' because MVB was causing problems? Funny how I followed Tasty's link and saw nothing but the 40K wrecking crew and MVB being perfectly civil to each other as they discussed the rumors of how Tony's list was created. Funny how he linked to a 2-hour video of one of Tony's games where MVB supposedly admitted writing Tony's list, but didn't bother giving us a time stamp to find the 'admission' with.

      Ass-hat.

    2. I like how BoK doesn't allow comments anymore. You can't directly call him out on his BS. Like how pretty much everyone used to do.

The 40K blog community needs to start shunning TT and BoK. He needs to be taken off of blog rolls completely.

    3. I second what Caulyn said. Sandwyrm, can you drop him from your blog roll?

    4. I was going to do that today. I will probably also make a post asking other bloggers to drop/shun Tasty.

He's become Maury Povich's seedier, pox-ridden, yellow journalism, bastard thalidomide child love child from Hanoi Hannah.

    5. don't worry. I'll phrase it much kinder than that.

    6. I wouldn't. Let's call the attention-whore on his crap.
