Hive Fleet Indy Warhammer 40K: Winter Tournament, 2011

When: Saturday, February 5th, 12 PM to 6:30 PM
Where: Games 2 Die 4, Avon, IN
Format: The tournament will consist of three 1 hour, 45 minute rounds @ 1500 points.

Note:
Due to higher than expected turnout, the “Bonus Points” concept has been dropped. With 24+ players, we will have at least three (and possibly four) undefeated players at the end of the day, who will share prize support equally. As such, Battle Scoring is now strictly Win/Loss.

Mission One: Annihilation

Deployment: Dawn of War
Game Length: Standard Random (1-2 ends after Turn 5; 1-3 ends after Turn 6; ends automatically after Turn 7)

Primary Victory: Standard Annihilation, as per the Warhammer 40k Rulebook. Player with the most Kill Points wins.

Tiebreaker: Standard Victory Points, as per the Warhammer 40k Rulebook. Player with the most Victory Points wins in the event of a tie on Primary.

Mission Two: Seize Ground (4)

Deployment: Pitched Battle
Game Length: Standard Random (1-2 ends after Turn 5; 1-3 ends after Turn 6; ends automatically after Turn 7)

Primary Victory: Seize Ground automatically set to four objectives; otherwise played as normal. Standard placement (objectives must be 12” away from any board edge or any other objective) is in effect. Players will roll-off to determine who places first prior to rolling off for board edge/first turn—don't forget to make sure your objectives are down before determining table edges! Player who controls the most uncontested Objectives at the end of the game wins.

Tiebreaker #1: At the end of each of your opponent's turns, you will receive one Control Point for each uncontested objective you control, as per the standard rules for controlling objectives from the Rulebook. These points will be cumulative throughout the game. Player with the most Control Points at the end of the game wins in the event of a tie on Primary.

Tiebreaker #2:
Standard Victory Points, as per the Warhammer 40k Rulebook. Player with the most Victory Points wins in the event of a tie on Primary and Tiebreaker #1.

Mission Three: Quarters Control

Deployment: Spearhead
Game Length: Standard Random (1-2 ends after Turn 5; 1-3 ends after Turn 6; ends automatically after Turn 7)

Primary Victory: Table Quarters by Victory Points. The table will be split into four quarters; each quarter will be held by the player who has more surviving Victory Points present in that quarter at the end of the game. Units which are spread across two quarters will count toward the quarter containing the majority of the models in the unit; Vehicles and single-model units spread across two quarters will count toward the quarter containing the majority of the model—call for TO assistance on any particularly close determinations. The half-point rules from the Rulebook (for units reduced to half strength, single-model units with multiple wounds, and damaged vehicles) are in effect, with the exception that fractions will be rounded up. Player who controls the most Table Quarters at the end of the game wins.

Tiebreaker #1: Five Objectives will be placed every 18” down the center line (lengthwise) of the table, resulting in two objectives on the short table edges, one in the dead center, and two in between. Special care is to be taken not to disturb the center objective, as players will attempt to use this to determine the border lines between Table Quarters throughout the game—if something should happen to your center objective, please ask for the TO to re-place it at table center. Control over the objectives is determined as per the standard rules for controlling objectives from the Rulebook. Player who controls the most uncontested Objectives at the end of the game wins in the event of a tie on Primary.

Tiebreaker #2: Standard Victory Points, as per the Warhammer 40k Rulebook. Player with the most Victory Points wins in the event of a tie on Primary and Tiebreaker #1.

  1. Looks pretty straight forward. I like the use of table quarters and am interested to see how they work with VP's.
