With only 1 vote, the CIA/MI5/Mossad are the winners of our Who Owns Nomad Investments poll. They've somehow managed to stay out of the public eye and deflect all the attention onto Charlie Sheen and the Freemasons. Good job!

I went down to Louisville a few weeks ago and had a game with Daedalus Nix. He wanted to face my 2K tournament list, and I was more than happy to get the practice in against his Tau.

Stargate Universe: Good Riddance (Spoilers)
by SandWyrm
(Rant and Spoiler Warning!)
When SGU was canceled late last year, I was invested enough in the series to watch the first episode of the final batch. When it stank (and oh boy, did it), I didn't bother buying the rest on iTunes.
But once the finale episode ran, "SyFy" wasted no time in getting most of the rest of the season up on Netflix, where they made the last 3 episodes 'DVD-Only'. Yeah, whatever. I paid for them on iTunes so that I could see (at a hefty total discount) how this whole sorry tale would finally end.

K-Town Throwdown the 2nd
by Uberdark
Thats right kids, Gamer DMZ is at it again. With the great show of support for the last tournament we are going to do another tournament. Prize support should be pretty good and I will list particulars as the month goes on. I seem to be a glutton for pain and am going to keep the tourney at 32 people and it will be a modified w/l tournament, much like how the hive fleet indy guys did it the last time. Here are the particulars thus far.
At Gamer DMZ our tourneys are run by two wild and crazy guys!!! |

Poll: Who Owns Nomad Investments?
by SandWyrm
Sure, it's probably just a bunch of rich nobodies that we wouldn't recognize. But that's no fun. Which shadowy organization do you think is really GW's largest investor? Vote on the right.

Who Owns Games Workshop?

It's a decent question. Who owns the company we're all mad at right now? Who should we really be voicing our concerns about the company's future to?

With the flurry of complaints about GW price increases, and questions about GW's corproate situation, I'm once again considering a game about a topic that's held my attention since sitting and listening to my grandpa's stories about the War. World War II.
What's this got to do with the price of tea in China?
Flames of War, silly.

GW's Price Increases: From Highest To Lowest
by SandWyrm
A few sources have posted the spreadsheet that GW sent to retailers recently. But it contains more than 700 products, most of which are unchanged. Here's the 174 products whose prices have changed, sorted from highest to lowest. They represent 37.6% of the Model/Book products on the list.

Hivefleet Indy May 14th Spring Tournament

The tournament at Games2 Die 4 was successful and had 34 players from all over Indianapolis and the surrounding areas such as Kokomo, Muncie, Evansville, and Greenwood. There were a lot of great looking armies and dice rolling.

Guest Post: The Art Of Big Scary Distractions
by NitroKitty
This post evolved out of a discussion on Leman Russ tactics, and why you should drop your sponsons and keep your tanks up front and on the move. SandWyrm has written a great blog on the subject, and after trying it out, I'm a believer. I thought I'd supplement his tactics with a little psychological warfare, or how to make your opponent shoot what you want him to shoot.

Dark Eldar 3rd Wave
by: uberdark
This just in. Awesomeness abounds. A 3rd wave including DE Battleforce, Talos Pain Engine, Dark Cronos Parasite Engine, Dark Eldar Venom, and Scourges are all being released in June.
I personally see a lot of great ideas coming from the use of both "engines." The scourges are fantastic and the build looks great. i would however like there to be two Battleforces. One with 20 wyches and one with 20 Warriors. That way you can focus on one kabal more. Kind of like what the imperial guard do with catachan and cadians.

My thoughts on Thawn
by Anonymous Foodie
My first game against Thawn (and Farmpunk's non-Purifier GK's) was last night at the good ol' game store. The list itself is pretty solid (although low-ish on long-range fire, which helps my DE a lot), and also the same that he took to Kokomo for the shenanigans there.
But today, we focus on Thawn.

What is the best Anti-Chaos Daemon Grey Knight build?
by Spaguatyrine
So I have this guy at my game store who is I believe the best daemon player in North America. He also plays what I think is the toughest build in all of 40k. I have played him twice with the new grey knights and only barely won both times. This brings me to question all of you......

Anybody want to get in a game down in Derbytown Wednesday or Thursday evening this week? Pet Shop Comics would be a good place to meet, but I don't know what their regular 40K night is.

Playing The New 24" Game
by SandWyrm
The new Grey Knights have been out for a little while now, and no doubt everyone is busy figuring out how to modify their existing armies to better cope with them. It's the same with my IG. I've done OK so far, but some things definitely need to be tweaked.

A note on the Game 2 Die 4 tournament on May 14th
by Wienas
I just registered for the tournament at Games 2 Die 4 yesterday, and there were 3 or 4 slots left open. So far, 30 people have signed up, so if you're planning on trying to make it, stop in and sign up or call the store at 317-271-4234.
See you there!

Thinking outside of T6; Elites take 2
By TheGraveMind
Here it is, the last post in the "Thinking outside of T6" series. Here is a list of the past articles. As stated in past articles, this is not theory-hammer. These are things I've used, tested and played. Topics may be biased towards my experience, but it's my perspective.
In the constant fight against Mono-build tyranids, the elite slot is the most rigid of the contenders. Most competitive lists will contain at least one unit of Hive guard, if not two. They are just good. What we are considering is that golden Third slot. I've already covered zoanthropes and Death leaper.

Post Tourney GK thoughts and analysis.
by: farmpunk
As a lot of you know by know, a lot of us made the trek to Kokomo to play in Uberdark's NOVA format Tourney up there. Yes, we used the NOVA mission primer pack, and found a few things we think need clarifying...
That's not why I'm here though. I'm here because I stayed up late the night before crunching my brain after the girls and Mrs. farmpunk went to bed to come up with a Grey Knight list I was content to test at 1500. Why was I testing a list for the first time at a tournament?
Why not? I needed to see how some ideas turned out.

Justicar Thawn And The NOVA Format: A Problem
by SandWyrm
Since the GK codex was released, I've had two 1500 point games against the new hotness with my Imperial Guard. I won big against farmpunk's Rhino/Razor approach (mostly due to his rolling), and drew against CaulynDarr's drop-knights. Both of those games (particularly CaulynDarr's) have given me an appreciation of the Grey Knights' strengths and weaknesses.
So I figured it was time to see how I would do against Spaguatyrine's StormRaven/Librarian rush list. It's the approach that, on a conceptual level, I like the most. He's also had a lot of success with it. So I invited him over to the man cave for a late night game after work.

How Grey knights Warp rifted a player
By TheGraveMind
I know I've jokingly called cheese on Spag's Grey knights last time I played them. I think the GK book is solid. It is powerful but not really over the top. The only thing I would consider "cheesey" about them are the grenades. -1 T, Stacking random effects and oh the Terminators have assault grenades... sigh. The real issue I wanted to share was the fact that GKs seem to be the scissors to my paper.
Things I hate. Haha |
