Yes that's right, the GP NORTH is doing a tourney.

battle missions:
                        game 1:  Blitzkrieg
                        game 2:  Implacable Advance
                        game 3:  Pre-emptive strike.
swiss tournament style.

All games come straight from the battle missions book and scoring is as follows.

5 points for a loss.
+5 for tabling.
3 points for secret objective in each game.

the secret objective is unknown at this time, thats why its a secret.

  5. I'm not going to lie, I get the creeps every-time I load the page now. I've only been to the North store once I think. I've been meaning to go up there for a game sometime, but work hasn't let me yet.

Not that I wouldn't be interested in going, but 14 person cap is a little restricting, also I would be the 5th Saturday in a row I'd ask off work. Best of luck with it, and good luck to all who go.

  6. Quick question on those missions out of the book - which of the 3 (of each army's 3) are they? 1st, 2nd, or 3rd?

Ah, scratch that anyway, just checked, that's the one day I already have on my schedule for February.

Best of luck to those able to go!

  7. well grave tbh most people agree that a 14 person tourney is just too small. but you have to realize the amount of space they have. generally no more than 12 in the back, and i got special permission from the manager to load 2 more players in the main area. so while that stinks, it is what it is. and the idea of a free game, with a gamesday ticket just is too good to pass up. :)

  8. I don't think 14 is too restrictive. Not with 3 rounds anyway. I mean think about it each player will only play 3 games anyway and it will keep the win/loss records pretty close. I would say it's rare but it's happened at 3 tournaments with over 30 people where out of my regular play group of 4 3 of us played each other in each event. I had one where 2/3 of my games were against these guys. That's depressing sure they're fun but I go to events to play someone new and find a new challenge. My point is even in slightly larger events playing someone you play regularly isn't uncommon and a limiting the field doesn't limit the challenge. Sure I think most guys enjoy larger events but the small ones can be just as much fun.

Good luck to you guys with this event.

  9. Great choice of pic! I love some of the Aphex Twin covers (and their videos), saw them live once and it was an experience :)
