So after much thought and heartache, I have decided to go with .........
My Grey Knights for 'Ard Boyz!
While Space Wolves are my primary army, I feel it will be better to play my knights to give my brain a break from all the "Nova" thinking I am doing.
With my Grey Knights I very much enjoy my deathcult assassins, but have decided to go with a more balanced approach.
HQ
Librarian-Might of Titan, Warp Rift, Shrouding, and Sanctuary. 2 x servo skulls
Castellan Crowe
I am using crowe due to the incredible flexibility of the purifiers. Their fearless status, cleansing flame for hordes, and higher base attacks are a much better troop choice then strike squads.
Troops
Purifiers
Keeper of the flame with halberd
2 x psycannons
1 halberd
1 hammer
Rhino
Purifiers
Keeper of the flame with halberd
2 x psycannons
1 halberd
1 sword
Rhino
Purifiers
Keeper of the flame with halberd
3 x Incinerators
4 x halberds
2 x hammers
Strike Squad
Justicar with halberd
1 Psycannon
3 swords
Razorback with psybolt ammo
Terminators
Justicar with Halberd
1 x psycannon and sword
1 x psycannon and halberd
2 x Hammers
2 x swords
3 x halberds
Up to 7 scoring units with combat squads, 7 psycannons, mobility with Rhinos, can deepstrike termies or strikes with use of servo skulls, can split and load into Storm Ravens and Crusader as I see fit. Lots of assault potential with good mid range firepower.
Fast Attack
Storm Raven-TL Multi Melta, TL Assault Cannon, searchlight
Storm Raven-TL Multi Melta, TL Plasma Cannon, searchlight
Storm Raven are for well, getting them there. A lot of killing potential coming out of them. 2 TL multi meltas turn 1. Spot light in dawn of war. Nice
Heavy
Land Raider Crusader- Multi Melta, Psybolt Ammo
Dreadnought-Multi Melta, Doomfist
Dreadnought-Twin Linked Autocannon, Doomfist, Psybolt Ammo
Crusader to move forward, provide mid range firpower and deliver precious cargo. Dreads to load into Storm Ravens, shoot from long or medium range, and still have Doomfists.
Overall I am very happy with this list. It gives me a chance against most comers, doesn't necessarily need psychic powers to work in case Eldar are around, and has a nice mixture of all 3 elements I build in my army list.
What are you thoughts?
I never thought of Crowe and my Libby together. Seems like they make a great team. Or not?

Crow and Libby together? Don't believe that you can run them as one squad. Or are just referring to your HQ selections then the Libby makes everything better, even bacon.

...and just started laughing when you realize a psifilman-heavy GK force (which will be fairly common at Nova) will just crush this list even going 2nd when you add some cover to Shrouding...
BTW, have you thought about interceptor squads for late round contesting?
ReplyDeleteStarted too. was thinking maybe one, but not sure I want to loose that strike squad.
ReplyDelete@Chambers,
ReplyDeleteYes I meant in the same list.
is that this weekend?
ReplyDeleteYep, all the cool kids are going to be there.
ReplyDeleteTnT I have to work...Glad to see GK being rep'd though.
