As some of you may know, Adepticon's registration website for 2011 went live this week. I've already bought my ticket to the 'con and the 40K championships. So I've been considering what else I want to do while I'm there.

Battle Report: Mech Guard vs. Vulkan Marines
by SandWyrm
I went down to the North Store tonight to practice with my new Guard list for the 1750 tourney in 2 weeks. Spaguatyrene was there with his two sons. One of whom was testing a Vulkan list for the tourney. So his dad set up a game between us.

Thinking outside of T6; Troops
By TheGraveMind
Many people, myself included, have become bored/tired of tyranids because of the supposed monobuild that everyone runs. This isn't going to be a post telling you its a myth, cause I think it is one of the best tournament lists Nids can make. What I'm trying to get across in this post is that it isn't the end-all-be-all that everyone thinks, nor are the lists others make, simply going to the other extreme. Not taking hive guard, or Tyrannofexes, or what ever it may be, isn't the answer. Every army needs some melta or missile launchers. The trick is to not spam them, and not be so depended on them.
Today I'll be covering Troop choices and options.

My New 1750 Guard List
by SandWyrm
I hate playing 40K at 1750. 1500 is fine, and so is 1850. But 1750 has always been the level at which I end up with around 50 points that I don't know what to do with. The math just never seems to work out using my usual Vet-based force.

List Question: Tyranids
by SandWyrm
Hey SandWyrm,
It's Andrew again. I finally faced the music. As much as I hate to say it I'm forced as a nid player to shoot my guns at things.
With this recent development I made a new list that I'd like to run by you. What pushed me to this list was I wanted to win games, not just tie them.

Color Question: Eldar
by SandWyrm
Hey blog-o-awesomeness,
My name is George and I am a soldier currently deployed over in Afghanistan, but will soon be returning home to my addiction of plastic men after three months away. While deployed I have had the fortunate luxury of the internet and came across your color theory threads and I was blown away by the absolute amazing series of articles. I have been painting for most of my time in the hobby and just recently started to game at a competitive level. I attended adepticon this last year with my guard and because it was my first time I didn’t try to go all out with an amazing army display or competitive list, just really to have fun. Now that the mighty adepticon is upon us again I am planning a beautiful eldar army and will be going all out and pulling all the strings I can to get a great presentation for everyone to see.
Painting Question: Space Wolves
by SandWyrm
Love your blog and I love your articles about painting and color theory. It's a unique thing your blog has to offer so give us more!
So, I'm about to start a pretty mammoth space wolves project and I really want to make sure I get the colors right. I've started a test model and now I'm second guessing myself. The model actually looks great in person but after looking at these pics I'm wondering I have made a mistake in painting the grey on this model.

My first spray
By TheGraveMind
So I decided I'm going to take a week or two off of gaming, and work on my army looks. For starters I have two drop pods, two land raiders, and a growing number of Rhinos that need to be painted. Once I get them all primed, I'm going to start painting them. Painting tanks is completely different from painting Monstrous creatures like I did with my tyranids, and I'll be honest, I'm struggling. So I'm cutting corners. I'm thinking of using an Airbrush.
So Sandwyrm covered his airbrush in a response to an email, back in the beginning of the year. But I've never used an airbrush before, and I ain't one of those city slickers with the compressors. I'm just a simple boy with some extra cash. So I went to the hobby store, bought a cheap airbrush set, and a can of propellant.
My main concern, is that instead of looking like I used one of these;

More Dark Eldar and... WHAT THE...?
by SandWyrm
Well now, this is interesting! Seems the Dark Eldar will be getting a "2nd Wave" of releases just 2 weeks after the first release.

My Wishlist For 6th Edition 40K
by SandWyrm
Well, here we are 2 years into 5th Edition. Long enough to know what we do and don't like about the main rules.
It's also about the time that GW will begin deciding on the details of 6th Edition. So in the spirit of getting some ideas out there, I've compiled a list of the changes that I would like to see.

Upcoming Tourney: Lafayette Game Preserve
by SandWyrm
I found out yesterday from some players at Games 2 Die For that there's an upcoming 40K tourney at the Lafayette Game Preserve that I didn't know about. Everyone there was talking about the, um, interesting comp system that's being used.

Dark Eldar, Old and New

In the days and weeks following the reports, then leaks, then actual viewings of the codex, the magical interweb lands have been buzzing with reactions, fits (of both glee and horror), and more and more pledging their allegiance to the Dark City.

My week of weak painting
By TheGraveMind
I present to you, Proteus. He was once a Captain of the 2nd company, and a promising Chaplain. Yes, in my fluff the Captains are pulled from the Chaplains. With the ongoing decent of the Plasma Drake chapter, He has risen first to the rank of Reclusiarch, but now also fills to role of Chapter Master. I've some what regretted not giving him a special pistol, but I think it has turned out ok. I tried to build and paint him around what I called a base angle. He is really meant to be looked at, as pictured above, and so I wrote his name there to reinforce it.

Upcoming Rogue Trader Tourneys in Fort Wayne
by SandWyrm
This is Eric Bemus from the 'Ard Boyz up in Kendalville. I just wanted to pass along the word that there are a couple RTTs up here in Fort Wayne, and thought you could pass the word along to the gamers in your area.
Dark Eldar Pre-Orders Are Up!
by SandWyrm
Well now, I haven't seen this mentioned elsewhere yet, but while I was perusing the GW website today I noticed that the pre-order page for the Dark Eldar is now up. With nice high quality pics of all the new minis.

Kill Team Hobby Event?
by: farmpunk
As we've been discussing Tournaments today, I thought I'd expand a little on an Idea I had on the drive to work this morning:
a Kill Team Tourney. It's a bit of an odd concept, but no more odd than team tourneys.

'Ard Boyz, Competition, and What I Like in a Tourney
by SandWyrm
The discussion going on in the comments to Wienas' last post have got me thinking about the things I like and hate about the tourneys I've gone to. Which I can't fit into a paragraph or two of comments. So I decided to dedicate a new post to them.

Angels and Wolves
By TheGraveMind
So attempting to clear some of my backlog before work. A couple weeks now, (man real life takes a lot of time), I got to face against Spaguatyrine's Space wolves for a long overdue game. There was only one outcome that could have happened.... I realized TWC are cheese! Well, they are powerful, but probably not a dairy product. Now we had found time to get our game in, but I had an arrangement later that evening, so we agreed to call time after around 2 hours.
Warning, Picture heavy long post!

Knowing da Rules
By TheGraveMind
First note, It seems it has been a while since I posted last. I noticed this because the way the image uploader has changed on Blogger, not sure when that happened....
But I've been away, dealing with life, getting in as many games as I can trying to learn thy enemy... I mean learn how to play my marines. And this past week I've taken some time off and finally started painting again. I plan on posting some of those picture soon, after I get my battle reports finished.

A Fine Looking Battle
by SandWyrm
It's been some 12 years since I first started my Tallarn Guard army in the Spring of 1998. But I can now say proudly that my 2K Mech Guard list is finally completely painted. Whew! Those last few Stormtrooper models were a real pain.
To celebrate, I took them down to the North Store hoping to finally get a game in with JB from Kokomo, who has the best looking Ork army I've ever seen. I lucked out, as he was there and anxious to play me. We set up the best looking table we could with the store's terrain and went at it. Fortunately I brought the good camera to take pics with.

Math-Hammer: Vendetta with Heavy Bolters vs. Vehicles (Corrected)

From Librarium Online:
Grats on the 1000th post! (On Librarium)
I've got a question for you: Do you still have your weapon/vehicle simulator? I'd be interested to know the stat dump on a vendetta with Heavy Bolters against different kind of vehicles, and the differences in kill/disable percentages.

List Question: Tyrannids
by SandWyrm

Feel free to put it up on Theback40k I don't mind. As one of the few opinions I respect and accept I'd love to get your feed back.

NecroWhatica?

Every so often, when 40K starts getting slow, and there's not a lot I'm excited about with the world of 40K, an old familiar hankering comes around. either do an Escalation league, or a campaign, or.....NECROMUNDA.
