This was a thought I had when I first saw the Grey knight codex, and I think it is a little bit confirmed seeing everyone's list ideas. The first two things I noticed when flipped through the display copy of the codex were these; 2 troop options, and almost 4 pages of Hq, most of which were Unique. It seems the majority of the troops people are thinking about taking are unlocked via a character. Paladins, purifiers, henchmen, all unlocked via an HQ choice. This is a good thing for a book and leads to a pretty good army design, one that GW has been following of late. But here is the core of my thought; How will comp be effected by GKs?

Potential 4x4 tournament. I need feedback
by Spaguatyrine
So with some old competitive blood coming back to the game in the indianapolis area, there have been talks of ranking players, and each tournament is bringing out some truly strong competition. Someone asked after our last team tournament about running a 4 team tournament.

A Gift For Mech Players

As I continue to prepare for Adepticon this week, I decided that I didn't want to have to keep using post-it notes to represent my exploded tank craters. So here's a little something I whipped up for the whole community.

Saltire 3-26-11 Tournament Results
by Spaguatyrine
I recieved this email from Steve Bradford. The TO that ran the tournament last weekend. I found the tournament to be fun, competitive, and really kind of relaxing. Saltire has a nice gaming area and great places to eat within walking distance. If you are on the east side, this is the place to be.

The Tyranid Organism
by TheGraveMind
I’ve been rethinking Tyranids thanks to Purgatus and Kennedy. Heck even Brent, Hyv3mynd, and Sinsynn (where ever he hails from) have been addressing the bugs lately.
So here are the basics, even on the table, Tyranids act like one large organism. On the galactic scale, one the skirmish scale, all aspects of the Tyranids are dictated by biology. What am I getting at? Phagocytosis of course.

Shiny new armors
by: farmpunk
I got my first game in the other night with the new and shiny GK book. Anonymous Foodie was willing to take on the Shiny Men. I perused the new book, and looked at the troops options, and looked at what I own...
and thought. Yep. Purifiers as troops. Now I've got to figure out how to make Castellan Crowe work for me.

Grey Knights At 1500: Pure and Balanced
by SandWyrm
Ok, I'm getting really tired of seeing nothing but GK Razor-Spam lists out there. Sure, it's an option. But wouldn't you rather do something a little more exciting with Grey Knights than the exact same thing that everyone's already doing with Space Wolves and Blood Angels?

Wow!
I've got a huge backlog of painting emails (some of which Farmpunk sat on for a while), even as I feverishly paint Stormtrooper models for Adepticon next week . I'll try and get some of these out of the way before I leave.
Now, onto the first. Roland Writes:

The Man with The Yellow Hat
By TheGraveMind
So everyone is all a chatter about the new Grey knight book. Meh... Imperials. I was planning on sitting most of this tide out, but one of my regular opponents decided he wanted to try the monkey spam. I figured it is worth sharing with the rest of the blog-o-sphere. His list was Coteaz and 13 squads of 3 Joks. He was going with the idea that they don't take up FOC that has been floating around. I don't agree with it, but it's a test list, so why not for now.

The Club can't even handle me now!
By TheGraveMind
This Saturday I took some of the local gang up to Lafayette for a small tournament. Normally there are about 12 people, this time it was only 8, four of which were us from Greenwood. Here is my confession, I was the Baby seal! I didn't feel like I was playing horribly. Nor did it seem like the dice were against me (with two exception). My list was a slight variation from one that took me to the final tables at a G2D4 tournament. And yet ....I was near tabled every game. Here's the recap.

A time to Gripe - Tyranid edition
by Anonymous Foodie
Now let me say this first - I love Tyranids. They were my first (of only two) army. I got my first box of 40k (the 3rd edition Starter) for Christmas when I was 13, with the hatchings of a very buggy future in my mind. Though I've been more focused on the Dark Eldar lately, I tend to play in stretches rather than switching back and forth in a given month.

Beware the Ides of March
By TheGraveMind
So the Ides of march have almost passed. A time once celebrated with military marches in the name of the god of Mars. While everyone and their grandmother have been posting about the new grey knights, I've spent some me time and painted my Blood angels.

Who Really Benefits From Feel-No-Pain?
by SandWyrm
While the 40K Interwebs are gearing up to cry about 2-wound GK Terminators with Feel No Pain, I thought that I'd bring some clarity to the discussion. What is the real benefit of FNP rolls for different troops?

Why The GK StormRaven Sucks

Hey Grey Knight players, have you bought your StormRavens already? Good, because when you see the codex you're going to be mad.

The Perfect Grey Knight Proxy Army?
by SandWyrm
As I've been thinking about what it would take to do an Adeptus Mechanicus proxy for the new Grey Knight codex, I've been a bit daunted by the potential work involved. That plus the meh-ness of the Codex itself (saw it tonight and I'm still worried) has had me stumped. I only like the book well enough to do a henchmen-centric force using my existing Tallarns. But I really want some Admech Elements too. But an Admech-Tallarn mix would be... a bit strange.
It was while I was browsing Forge World for AdMech insignias that I stumbled across the answer.

Shots Of The New DreadKnight

Here's some shots of the new DreadKnight that I took at the FLGS tonight. I like everything about the model except for the oval Valkyrie base and the pilot. So if I get one I'll be modifying it.

With the new Grey Knight black box hitting stores, and the interesting additions (like Ordo Hereticus and Ordo Xenos inquisitors, Arco-flagellents)
What's going to happen to the good 'ol WitchHunters codex?

Battle Report: The Tallarn 13th vs. Shrike Termies
by SandWyrm
I got down to the North Store a little late last night. By the time I arrived at 6:30, there were already 4 games going on. Usually that means that I have to sit back and settle for either a night of conversation or a small non-competitive game with a new player.
But while I was talking about the new Grey Knights with a couple of the regulars, in walks ZerkeX; a blog regular who came down from Muncie. He didn't blink when I asked if he wanted to play my test list for Adepticon. He had a tourney list to run too. Nice! So we had Gibbs set up a table for us.

Skulls....bits and more uh.........skulls???
by Uberdark
So I was on warhammer.com today looking at the latest "whats new today," and lo and behold they have a conversation about bits. Now mind you I love bits, being the Ork that I am. But of course, one thing we always joke about is GW's use of skulls.
I think we're gonna need a bigger skull............

You can't fly a tank fool!
By TheGraveMind
So I've spent nearly all day on my second storm raven. It is the new kit that I've had sitting around because I've had no reason to assemble it. 6 hours and a tube and a half of super glue later I've made some progress. Nothing as grand as I was hoping... Seeing as I got so mad at it I threw it at the floor and broke some pieces. I also can't feel my finger tips as I have so much super glue on them.

Multi-assault question. The rules say what?
By TheGraveMind
So I've heard this many times before, and even played it this way for a while. A unit in combat cannot attack a unit that assaults it next turn. If this is true it is a great tactic for my Tyranids again, but alas as I see it, it is crap. If you disagree and think you can explain it to me, please read through and tell me where I'm wrong.

What old post am I proud of...?
by TheGraveMind
It's not the post with the most comments or views. It's my painting article. I recently went back to painting some tyranids, and man had I forgotten how fast and easy they are. Once you've painted something enough times, and have found a good method, there is little work to actually be done. While they are not fully finished, they are to table top and it didn't take me more than an hour each, a ravener and a Tyrant guard. But the post I want to show again is my step by step as I worked on some guants. I still show off that finished gaunt as one of my pride and joys.

So last night we played a team game. SandWyrm (IG) and I (DH) vs. Ross (ork hordes), and a player coming back from 4years of not playing. I think 3rd ed was when he played last. We had to go over a lot of rules. And Argue over wether the Deciever can be included in a lit of 1000pts, and if the Callidus assassin's Word in your ear can affect the C'tan.
